General

Routescene comprises of both hardware and software providing the User with all the tools to record, review and analyse geo-referenced video and Lidar.

The GPScamera contains the high resolution digital camera, GPS receiver and optional IMU, this information is transmitted to the RS100 where it is displayed and stored. The RS100 also provides the ability to interface to external survey grade GPS receivers or GPS\INS sensors. Third party sensors can also be connected to the RS100 enabling this data to simultaneously geo-referenced together with video.

The RS100 now also supports the recording of high definition 3D laser scans obtained from the Velodyne HDL64, enabling a route to be quickly and easily surveyed. The 3D laser scans are then typically used to create Digital Terrain Models or 3D models. 3D laser scanning is very complimentary to Routescene's geo-referenced video technology, enabling the asset mapping process to be further improved.

ArcView and VideoDRS software are used during the review to manage, analyse and digitise features from the video.
